Therapeutic Horsemanship

Cowboy Strong Horsemanship

We Ride, and never worry about the fall.
I guess that’s just the cowboy in us all.

Introducing “Cowboy Strong”, a free veteran’s program dedicated to supporting the men and women who have bravely served our country. Recent studies have shown that after just six weeks of therapeutic horsemanship sessions, PTSD scores dropped by 87%. Through this program, veterans will learn basic horsemanship skills and complete tasks on horseback, benefitting from the therapeutic benefits of working alongside their equine partners. The program is structured around a series of challenges designed to strengthen the bond between the veteran and their horse. With multiple workshops available, “Cowboy Strong” is a powerful and transformative experience that can help veterans develop valuable skills and find healing in a supportive environment.

Cowboy Bootcamp:

Join us for “Cowboy Bootcamp”, a one-day workshop designed specifically for veterans. During this workshop, you will be introduced to the world of horsemanship and horseback riding. The day will consist of hands-on activities such as grooming, applying tack, rigging, and riding, as well as learning the basics of horse care. You will have the opportunity to work closely with our experienced instructors to develop your horsemanship skills and build a deeper connection with your equine partner. The day may conclude with a short trail ride, giving you the chance to put your newfound skills to the test. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the therapeutic benefits of working with horses and develop valuable life skills in a supportive and empowering environment.

Cowboy Challenge:

Are you ready for a new challenge? Join us for “Cowboy Challenge”, a one-day workshop that will take your horsemanship skills to the next level. This workshop is broken down into five sections: Handling, Tack, Riding, Trail Challenge, and Livestock. Each month, we will focus on at least two of the five areas of training, allowing you to build your skills gradually and steadily.

During the Handling section, you will learn the basics of grooming, ground-work, and awareness, laying the foundation for a strong and respectful partnership with your equine partner. The Tack section will cover haltering, bridling, saddling, and packing, giving you the skills you need to prepare your horse for a successful ride. In the Riding section, you will learn how to mount and dismount, control your horse, make corrections, and stop with confidence and ease.

The Trail Challenge section is where the real fun begins, as you take on a variety of obstacles and challenges designed to test your skills and build your confidence. And in the Livestock section, you will learn the basics of roping, driving, and handling, giving you a taste of the cowboy lifestyle.

Don’t miss this opportunity to build your horsemanship skills, challenge yourself, and connect with a community of like-minded veterans.

Veterans who participate in the Cowboy Challenge will be invited to join other veterans in the “Ride of a Lifetime”

Ride Of A Lifetime

The Ride of a Lifetime (ROAL), is a unique opportunity available exclusively to veterans who have completed the Cowboy Challenge program. The ROAL is an intensive three-day adventure on horseback, during which veterans will have the chance to bond with their equine partners while navigating challenging terrain and obstacles in a team environment.

Through this experience, veterans will have the opportunity to connect with other service members who share similar experiences and challenges. The ROAL serves as a powerful platform for veterans to form lasting bonds and relationships with their peers, and to support one another in their ongoing journeys towards healing and recovery.

During the ROAL, veterans will have the chance to put their horsemanship skills to the test as they groom, tack, rig, care for, and ride their equine partners. They will learn to navigate challenging trail and ranch conditions, including steep hills, rocky terrain, and water crossings. Along the way, they will work together as a team to overcome obstacles and challenges, building camaraderie and trust among one another and with their horses.

This unforgettable experience provides a unique opportunity for veterans to reconnect with nature and themselves, and to find strength and resilience in the face of adversity. The ROAL is a powerful testament to the transformative power of therapeutic horsemanship, and we are proud to offer it as part of our Cowboy Strong program.
